Position Purpose Summary The CAN Regional Automation and Electrical Engineer is accountable for the deployment and execution of engineering best practices with a specific focus on automation (low voltage systems process control devices and logic etc.) electrical (medium to high voltage electrical systems) and instrumentation (process monitoring devices and software) disciplines. This position will assist businesses and sites with project specific execution (design build and maintain) solutions development execution and process improvement in accordance with geographic regulations and codes while in alignment with Cargill strategy and expectations. This role will also serve as a subject matter expert for site automation electrical and instrumentation personnel by providing both technical expertise and project leadership support. Principal Accountabilities 1.60 Automation Electrical and Instrumentation Design and Capability Provide oversight for the development and execution of manufacturing system deployments including; network architecture Plant Control Systems (PCS) Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) electrical systems and peripheral technologies used for controlling plant processes. Provide technical expertise to site personnel relative to project designbuildmaintain technical education and development as well as support to address issues with existing equipment and processes. Monitor and enforce appropriate standards for automation electrical and instrumentation using Cargill Standards Cargill safetyfood safety policies localfederal codes andor regulations (i.e. ATEX International Electric Code National Electric Code NFPA 70E OSHA FDA etc.) and good engineering practices. Collaborate across the businesses to identify monitor and implement manufacturing system design improvements for existing facilities. This discipline will include extensive collaboration work with other Cargill teams in ISA 95 Interface Standards and Methodologies Manufacturing Operation Management (MOM) Technical network pattern architecture and design electrical system design IEC and NEC Electrical codes and standards instrumentation standards and selection Process Control Systems Manufacturing Execution Systems and Cyber Security 2.20 Manufacturing Systems- Road mapping and Relationship Management Promotes strong businesscustomer partnerships to ultimately influence strategicsystemic changes bridge technology gaps and establish organizational technology milestones as well as governance around process improvement and leading practices for Automation Electrical and Instrumentation disciplines. Holds third party integrators and Plant IT Support Organizations accountable to service delivery and solution quality integrity at total cost of ownership. Keeps abreast of emerging automation electrical and instrumentation developmentimprovements within the industry and region incorporating leading edge technology into the design requirements so that the process design maintains its competitiveness. Develops strategic partnership with customersbusinesses to develop deep knowledgeunderstanding of the manufacturing setting business productservice life cycle environmental and sustainability impact future growth considerations as well as overall cost of ownership and long-term usability of assets. Participates in industry organizations as the Regional Manufacturing System Expert representing Cargill to influence and keep abreast of regulations and industry trends. 3.10 Automation Electrical and Instrumentation- Performance Define and monitor manufacturing system performance metrics and goals as well as overall business impact. Provides strategic leadership for and define establish lessons learned process from Build projects to continuously improve manufacturing system deployments Externally benchmark manufacturing system capabilities and performance of 3rd Party Integrators and Contractors to assist the business in assessing their capabilities. 4.10 Talent Development Provides strategic functional leadership coaching and management of process engineers (internal and external thru Vendor Partnerships) that directly support the automation electrical and instrumentation avenues. Create plans for workforce needs to support the build operate and maintain of the manufacturing systems Leverage organization capabilities of cross-functional internal and external resources to define and monitor performance of a manufacturing system. Qualifications Education Experience Skills 1.Minimum Required Qualifications Bachelors degree (or country equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or discipline related to industrial automation or electrical technology 10 years working in or with industrial facilities on projects plant troubleshooting. Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to lead meetings Reviewing Approving Advising correct electrical and control installations and designs. Strong conceptual strategic thinking problem solving technical and analytical skills. Working knowledge of Industrial plant power distribution both medium and high voltage. Knowledge and experience working in both NEC and IEC electrical code and standards Working knowledge of low and medium voltage motor control systems including solid state systems Working knowledge of PLC based plant control systems and associated networks Experience with Electrical System designs and Automation System interfaces to form end to end solutions Ability to quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies Ability to influence peers Leadership and interpersonal skills including teamwork facilitation and negotiation Proven ability to work effectively within a large organization that operates using matrix management structures Business fluency in English and at least 1 native language of the region being supported Ability to travel up to 40 including International travel. 2.Preferred Qualifications Experience working in a global team Troubleshooting and solving complex problems Testing and implementing innovative solutions Creating Writing Modifying training materials specifications andor best practices Knowledge and ability to support: translation of business needs into electrical system solution architecture requirements application of multiple technical solutions to business problems and estimation of the financial impact of electrical system solution architecture alternatives. PC based HMI control system interface Knowledge of building codes permit requirements US and International Electrical Codes Understanding of MES systems and interfacing with external systems Excellent program and project management experience as well as planning and organizational skills Electrical plant maintenance leadership Large Manufacturing Plant Electrical green field construction management experience Experience leading electrical providers within Build projects
